Introduction New Head of Junior Programmes

Dear all,

My name is Callum Doyle, I am a coach and former competitive swimmer who will be taking over as Head of the Junior Programmes at Plymouth Leander from Monday 25th February.

Born in Camden, North London - to parents who met at the same swimming club I joined at the age of five - spent much of my youth at a pool either training or competing. From a family of competitive swimmers and coaches, a career in the sport became the natural corollary as I took my first group of swimmers as a coach at the age of 18.

Six years later, I had taken over a considerable squad of competitive swimmers and helped build a skills development programme from scratch – tasked with increasing participation and improving performance – making considerable progress in establishing an environment within which all swimmers could achieve their full potential. Site participation grew, individual performance levels improved and I matured as a coach and mentor to many exceptional swimmers and people.

In the coming months and years, I intend to build upon the excellent foundations laid by my predecessors to achieve something truly special. Maintaining a winning mentality and hard-working culture, I aim to challenge people’s perception of what is possible when coach, swimmer and parent share common values and fulfil their roles with consistency and enthusiasm.

This begins with meeting as many parents as possible – the unsung heroes and driving force behind many competitive swimmers – assuring them of my absolute commitment to working with, developing and inspiring the next generation of Plymouth Leander swimmers.
