To the Swimmers, Parents & Families of the Plymouth Leander Learn-to-Swim-Programme
Re: The Future of Learn-to-Swim at the Plymouth College Pool…
Plymouth College (in partnership with Plymouth Leander Swimming Association) will be launching a new and revitalised Learn-to-Swim programme in the Plymouth College pool from September 2014. Plymouth College will take a lead on this and have recently finished interviews for the position of Head Swimming Teacher.
The programme will run on Sundays as at present but will offer much more flexibility in terms of timings for lessons; the new structure will allow lessons to be taken in 30 minute slots from 0930 right through to 1900 each Sunday.
We will be hoping to employ several of the high quality teachers that you currently enjoy and will be following the ASA National Teaching Plan but with an additional ‘Olympic Dreams’ extension programme offered at each level. We think this is vital to help us find the next Ben Proud or the next Ruta Meilutyte – and we hope that there is such a swimmer somewhere amongst you now.
Your children are very important to Plymouth Leander and we intend to look after them through this partnership; we are currently working alongside British Swimming and Plymouth City Council to ensure our delivery is as it has been for some time – the very best in the UK. From a delivery perspective, it is only the beneficial ownership that will change, something that we had to support with this being Plymouth College’s pool!
We will also be introducing a best of breed IT solution to allow the parents to receive up to date progress reports and an online booking/re-booking system to allow the operation to become even more professional. And of course you will continue to enjoy all of the unique benefits of the PL programme; small intimate class sizes; high quality teaching; an ability to sit close to your child during their lesson; intimate pool surrounds with perfect acoustics for delivery; free parking; and so on!!
So you can be kept fully up to date with all that is happening at this exciting time, please use the link below to provide us with your details and also to allow you to give us some feedback on the current system so that we can do everything to ensure that the re-launch in September is suited to all of your wishes and needs.
Thank you for your time and we look forward to seeing you in September!
