In the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), the University attained a top rating (5) in psychology, computer science and art history, a 4 rating showing national excellence and demonstrating signs of international excellence, in civil, electrical, marine and mechanical engineering, environmental sciences, geography, social policy & administration and sociology.
