The Peninsula Medical School aims to develop a new approach to medical education that nurtures the skills and abilities required by doctors of the future who can become agents of change within the NHS. Students at Peninsula benefit from state of the art facilities and are involved in patient health from week one of the programme, gaining hands-on community experience in a wide range of healthcare settings. Important clinical skills are taught within a curriculum that integrates science and medicine. There is a robust partnership with the NHS and the University of Plymouth, to provide a practical and academically rigorous undergraduate programme. Undergraduate teaching occurs within a research rich environment. Medical education research from around the world has informed the development of a curriculum in line with the requirements of the modern healthcare professional. Research is a vital part of the School’s activities and is carried out in the field of biomedical research, clinical education and health services research, areas which map NHS needs and priorities
